Celine Mizrahi has more than 20 years of advocacy, political, and policy experience in the federal, state, and local arenas.
As a senior team member of U.S. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler—a longtime Democratic icon and progressive leader—for over a decade, Celine managed complex policy campaigns and built grassroots and advocacy coalitions to further one of the most ambitious progressive legislative agendas ever before the House Judiciary Committee. Celine’s work at the intersection of national politics, policy, and organizing was a key part of Chairman Nadler’s efforts to protect and defend our democracy after the interference in the 2016 election, as well as efforts to protect the right to vote and access to the ballot box, strengthen our gun laws, create a pathway to citizenship for DREAMers, and help workers and consumers. Celine has a strong track record of results in electoral politics, movement building, and legislative and narrative change.
Most recently, as Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Initiatives for New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, Celine shaped the Council’s groundbreaking responses to the economic, health care, and racial inequities revealed across New York City by the COVID-19 crisis.
Celine also has an extensive background in grassroots and legislative advocacy outside of government. She started her career as an advocate for economic justice in New York City, working directly with impacted communities to address the need for sustainable jobs and government assistance for low-income New Yorkers. After graduating from law school at New York University, where she received the prestigious Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Rights and Peggy Browning Fellowships, Celine joined the Center for Reproductive Rights, managing their state and federal legislative efforts and working with grassroots groups around the country to protect and advance reproductive justice.
A first generation American and graduate of Yale University, Celine lives in Brooklyn with her husband, two very active sons, and their very calm dog.
